Kentucky environmental attorney Sanders says Black Mountain is named to 11 Most Endangered Historic Places in America.

On May 19, 2010, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Black Mountain and the surrounding communities of Benham and Lynch one of the 11 Most Endangered Historic Places in the United States for 2010.  Black Mountain is the tallest mountain in Kentucky with a summit elevation of 4,145 feet (1,263 m) above mean sea level and a top to bottom height of over 2,500 feet (760 m).
