Jeffrey M. Sanders says Kentucky Coal Association contends that God’s scripture supports Mountaintop Removal Mining.

Did you know that Kentucky Coal is espousing that the Bible supports Mountain Top Removal Mining on its website?  Here is the verse quoted by the coal companies on its website:

• Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low; The rugged land shall be made a plain, the rough country, a broad valley.  Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all mankind shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.  Isaiah 40:4-5, (New American Bible)

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think God, Jesus, or the New American Bible verse support mountaintop removal in eastern Kentucky.
