Jeffrey M. Sanders asks who is watching out for potential public health effects associated with atom-sized nano particles in our modern society?

Has anyone else been following the published research on potential health risks associated with nano-sized particles in our modern society? These are atom-sized particles generated on industrial scale around the world.  Titanium dioxide is perhaps the most commonly used nano-compound in everyday consumer products.

It is pretty scary because no one at the federal government seems to be on the same page with this issue. NanoTechnology Titanium dioxide health issues

The Environmental Working Group says it has calculated that close to 10,000 over-the-counter products use nano-titanium dioxide in one form or another. Other public health specialists put the number even higher.
