Kentucky environmental attorney Sanders says Apple is leaving U.S. Chamber of Commerce over stance of denying climate change.

Apple Inc became the latest company to quit the U.S. Chamber of Commerce because the technology company disagrees with the Chamber’s climate change policy. Last month three big power utilities, Exelon Corp, PG&E Corp and PNM Resources Inc, announced that they were leaving the chamber over the group’s stance on climate change.

The Chamber opposes what it terms “ill-conceived climate change policies and measures that could severely damage the security and economy of the United States.”   Apparently that means opposing any attempts to cap greenhouse emissions from fossil fuel electric generating plants.

Our office is transitioning to Apple computers, and this announcement solidifies my decision to do so.

  1. I have two Macs and I support Apple in leaving the U.S. Chamber, which is out of touch with mid-stream scientists across the world.

    • What is going to run those two Macs when there is no coal generated energy?

      • With Kentucky using coal to generate more than 92 percent of its electricity, no one seriously doubts that coal will be used in the foreseeable future in this state. Still, it makes sense for Kentucky to begin to develop new energy sources, including wind, solar and biofuels. After all, we make the finest ethanol in the world right here in Kentucky. So, plug in that Mac and rest assure that Kentucky coal is being burned to create heat to boil water, which in turn creates steam to turn a turbine to huge honking coil of copper to create electricity.
