Kentucky environmental attorney Sanders says little things can lead to big energy savings in the Commonwealth during the summer.

Here are a couple energy savings tips:

  • Close your curtains: sunlight, especially from east- or west-facing windows, can send our inside temperatures soaring, so close your curtains, blinds, what have you before you leave for work and open them again once the sun goes down.
  • Set your home thermostat higher when you’re not home. By setting your home’s temperature to 72°F or above during the day, you reduce the amount of energy your air conditioning system uses.
  • Keep your tires inflated and your engine tuned.
  • Use your car’s AC as little as possible- using the air conditioning costs you miles per gallon every single time you drive your car.
