Kentucky environmental attorney Sanders says 28 diverse Christian groups call for an end to dumping mining wastes into rivers and streams and to end moutaintop removal coal mining.

On March 12, 2010, a coalition of 28 diverse Christian groups from across many denominations sent a letter to US EPA calling for immediate action to stop further mountaintop removal coal mining.

The Christian groups are also asking EPA to close the Clean Water Act loophole and restore the original Clean Water Act protections, which would prohibit coal companies from masquerading their waste as “fill.”

The press release is at:

I wrote in a prior column that dumping mining wastes into the waters of the United States was a truly and vile and unChristian act that is contrary to basic fundamental beliefs found in the Christian religion.  It is an abhorrent deed and one that should be stopped by EPA.

Apparently, these 28 diverse Christian groups feel the same way.  Praise God! Stop dumping mining wastes in our country’s waterways! Call the President, call your Congressman or call you Congresswoman and tell them that dumping mining wastes into lakes, rivers, streams, creeks and tributaries is simply wrong and should be stopped!  Plug the hole in the Clean Water Act.
