Kentucky environmental attorney Sanders says patriotic Americans save fuel and money by using common sense to reduce dependence on foreign oil.

Reduce American dependence on foreign oil by using common sense when driving.

Energy efficiency is the best way to reduce America’s demand for fossil fuels, including foreign oil from the Middle East.  Transportation needs account for 67% of all U.S. oil consumption.  That means, American dollars are supporting foreign governments that hate America and everything that this great Nation stands for.

The good news is that there is a lot each American can do to save energy and money in your car.  For example, drive sensibly. Aggressive driving (speeding, rapid acceleration and braking) wastes gasoline, and requires America to buy more foreign oil with its limited supply of money from greedy foreign countries that hate us.

Idling gets you 0 miles per gallon. The best way to warm up a vehicle is to drive it. No more than 30 seconds of idling on winter days is needed. Anything more simply wastes fuel and increases emissions.

Use the grade of motor oil recommended by your car’s manufacturer. Using a different motor oil than the one recommended by your car manufacturer can lower your gasoline mileage by 1% to 2%.

Keep tires properly inflated and aligned to improve your gasoline mileage by around 3.3%.

Consider buying a highly fuel-efficient vehicle. A fuel-efficient vehicle, a hybrid vehicle, or an alternative fuel vehicle could save you a lot at the gas pump and helps America keep its money in this country.

Let’s save fuel and keep America away from foreign oil!  Save gasoline and save the life of an American soldier.
