Environmental lawyer Sanders says U.S.A. Today has interactive map of Top 100 mercury emitters in the U.S.

Mercury is a naturally occurring metal which has several forms. The metallic mercury is a shiny, silver-white, odorless liquid. If heated, it is a colorless, odorless gas.

USA Today has a very interesting interactive map showing the Top 100 emitters of mercury  into our atmosphere.  According to the newspaper, these large sources of mercury emit around 48 tons of mercury into the air each year.   Most of the approximately 96,000 pounds mercury are released into the atmosphere each year by cement plants and coal-fired electric generating plants.  The site is at:
